A Land Use Permit is required when you are selling or giving food away, make an addition to existing structures,
closing off or adding an entrance or exit, installing a swimming pool with a depth of two or more feet, new building
construction if greater than 200 square feet, signs to set up a new business, and for any activity not normally allowed
in a zoning classification. A Land Use Permit Application can be obtained from the Documents section of this website, at
Borough Hall or by contacting Cindy Harr at 261-3221 or
charr@chambersburgpa.gov.
Addition or replacement of siding, windows, shingles or
fences do not require a permit.

What can I do about a property or activity that I do not
believe is up to code?
An unsafe, unsanitary or dilapidated structure or situation
is probably a violation of Borough Codes. Borough officials
will inspect reported violations, and will protect the privacy
